Professor Daewon Seo Appointed
As of August 1th 2021, Prof. Daewon Seo join us in the Department of Information and Communication Engineering at DGIST.
Professor Daewon Seo received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, South Korea, in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Then, he worked as a researcher at KAIST Institute and LG Electronics, South Korea, from 2010 to 2011 and from 2011 to 2014, respectively. He obtained the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2019. Before joining DGIST, he was with the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, USA in 2019 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI, USA from 2020 to July 2021 as a postdoctoral researcher.
His research interest includes the theory of machine learning and inference over networks. In particular, he is interested in how deep neural networks work and how learning algorithms can be improved. Another topic that he is interested in is to design optimal inference and data-generation strategies for social networks. His research was published in more than 20 peer-reviewed papers in top-tier conferences and journals. He also has more than 20 international patents granted.
